December 7 Meeting: Creating Opportunity, Providing Quality Deliverables,
and Adhering to Ethical Standards

***Meeting is on the FIRST Thursday of the month

Creating career opportunities in the medical writing/editing field will be
the topic of the STC Lone Star Community meeting on Thursday, Dec. 7, at
the Crowne Plaza North Dallas/Addison Hotel. This is a joint meeting with
the Southwest Chapter of the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA).

Kersten Hammond, CEO and President of MedBio Publications LLC, will
present "Creating Opportunity, Providing Quality Deliverables, and
Adhering to Ethical Standards."

Kersten Hammond

Kersten F. Hammond has a professional and educational background in
medicine and biology, and a certification in pharmaceutical medical
writing through the AMWA. Kersten is the Regional Director of AMWA.

She has been working in the medical writing arena since 1998 and has
successfully grown a medical communications business, MedBio Publications
LLC. She began her freelance medical writing career in 1998 in Dallas/Fort
Worth, creating opportunities where there were none and learning the hard
lessons in medical writing and editing.

Registration

Register online by Today, December 4, and get a discounted dinner price!
With timely online reservations, the dinner and program cost is $20 for
STC members, students with student IDs, and AMWA members, and $25 for
guests. Without timely reservations, the dinner and program cost is $25
for STC members, students with student IDs, and AMWA members, and $30 for
guests.

The cost for program only attendance with timely online reservations is $5
for STC members, students with student IDs, and AMWA members, and $10 for
guests. Without timely reservations, the program-only attendance is $10
for STC members, students with student IDs, and AMWA members, and $15 for
guests.

SIN SIG

If you’re a newcomer, don’t miss another intriguing SIN SIG session,
hosted by Elisa Miller. SIN SIG meets at 5:45 p.m. in the same room as the
dinner meeting.

Community Service: Salvation Army Angel Tree Volunteers Needed

The Lone Star Community needs volunteers to work at the Salvation Army
warehouse.

When: Saturday, December 9, from noon till 5:00 PM. Lunch and orientation
provided at noon.

What: Assist the Salvation Army with their Angel Tree program by helping
in the warehouse.

Who: LSC members, spouses, and friends. For safety requirements,
volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Deadline: Today, December 4
