October 26: LSC STC Fort Worth Satellite Meeting
The LSC STC Fort Worth Satellite will meet Thursday, October 26, in the
Chapel Meeting Room at the Fort Worth Central Library (downtown, 500 W.
3rd St. 76102, 817-871-7701) from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. STC Senior Member Paula
Robertson will be presenting "Incorporating User Assistance (Online Help)
into Training."
According to Paula
Paula Robertson is not an expert or qualified to speak on anything. But as
a technical communications professional (her third career) for over 11
years, she must have picked up something along the way that's worth
sharing. A lone writer for the past four years--that's how she became
involved with co-workers who did on-site training and latched onto the
idea that user documentation and training could kill more birds with the
same stone than you'd think! Besides, what's the most valuable, accessible
"leave-behind" material that you can have from on-site training? The
Online Help that's already built in.
Paula has a degree in life from the University of HardKnocks and is prone
to run-on sentences and clichés when she's too tired or lazy to compose
meaningful text. But she insists on being entertaining, if nothing else.
Please come help her out by lending your credibility to this presentation
on how to incorporate user assistance into training, and enjoy some of
Kathy Stark's homemade cookies! Seriously, you just might learn something
in spite of ourselves.
