March 8 Meeting: Universal Usability

***Meeting is on the SECOND Thursday of the month. 

The STC Lone Star Community (LSC) and the STC Austin Community have joined
forces to bring usability expert and STC Associate Fellow Whitney
Quesenbery to Texas!

Whitney will present “Universal Usability” at the LSC community meeting on
Thursday evening, March 8, 2007, at the Crowne Plaza North Dallas/Addison
Hotel. This is also a joint meeting with co-sponsors DFW Usability
Professionals’ Association (UPA). Whitney will explain the principles of
universal usability design and share examples, guidelines, and resources
on how you can communicate with a broad range of users.

Whitney will also present a half-day seminar, “Using Personas,” in Austin
on Saturday, March 10. She recently authored a chapter on Storytelling and
Narrative in a new book on personas, The Personas Lifecycle, by Pruitt and

Whitney Quesenbery

Whitney Quesenbery is a user researcher, user experience practitioner, and
usability expert with a passion for clear communication. She helps
companies from The Open University to the National Cancer Institute
develop usable Web sites and applications.

Whitney serves on two U.S. federal advisory committees, on voting systems
and accessibility regulations, and has served as president of the
Usability Professionals' Association (UPA). She publishes frequently,
including a regular column, People Matter, at www.uxmatters.com. You can

Registration

Register online by Monday, March 5, and get a discounted dinner price!
With timely online reservations, the dinner and program cost is $20 for
STC members, UPA members, and students with student IDs, and $25 for
guests. Without timely reservations, the dinner and program cost is $25
for STC members, UPA members, and students with student IDs, and $30 for
guests.

The cost for program only attendance with timely online reservations is $5
for STC members and UPA members and $10 for guests. Without timely
reservations, the program-only attendance is $10 for STC members and UPA
members and $15 for guests. Program-only attendance is free for students
with valid student IDs.

SIN SIG

If you are shy, inactive, or a newcomer, don’t miss another intriguing SIN
SIG session, hosted by Elisa Miller. SIN SIG meets at 5:45 PM in the same
room as the dinner meeting.
