April 10 Meeting: No User Left Behind: Designing On-line Help that is
Helpful

***Meeting is the SECOND THURSDAY of the month.

You don't want to miss the April meeting!

FIRST! We have an encore presentation from the Region 5 conference from
Nov 2006. This presentation was STANDING ROOM ONLY -- so we decided to
bring it back!

Straight from Houston, Lone Star STC presents Marlowe Wakeman and Marc
Bryant and their UPDATED presentation: No User Left Behind (designing
online Help that is helpful).

Online Help design often consists of window field definitions, tasks, and
reference information single-sourced from large User Guides. Although
comprehensive, these strategies leave the user behind, stranded in a knot
of See Also links. To successfully help our users, we must understand what
they really want and provide that information when they need it.

Learn how to easily redesign your online Help without changing your
existing tools or processes. This presentation walks through a proven,
real-life Help solution that is both user-centric and cost-effective.
Although it is not tool-specific, this presentation also provides a short
demo of MadCap Flare as well as ePublisher Pro, to illustrate the powerful
single-sourcing tools now available to our community.

AND -- as an added incentive -- you can buy a ticket for the scholarship
door prize drawing and you MIGHT WIN A SPECIAL PRIZE -- REGISTRATION TO
THE UPCOMING STC CONFERENCE IN PHIILADELPHIA.

We'll also announce the winners of the Salary Survey Drawing!
