This amendment to the Lone Star Community bylaws allows for electronic
voting by the administrative council. If approved it will become a new
sub-paragraph under Article VI: Management\Section 1: Administrative
Council\Paragraph F. Collective Duties of Council.
Electronic Voting
The council can vote electronically by consensus of the voting council
members.
The president shall call the question by contacting the administrative
council members with the following information:
the issue to be decided
any details so far discussed
a deadline for votes to be cast, allowing at least 48 hours to ensure
adequate time for discussion
the method of casting votes
The electronic ballot will include the question as called by the
president, a way for the council members to indicate their vote, and a
method for authenticating the returned ballots.
The vote will be tabulated by the president or designee.
The results of the vote will be reported to the council and recorded in
the minutes of the following council meeting.
A quorum of council members must cast ballots in order for the vote to
be valid.
If the results are disputed, the president shall appoint another council
member to audit the voting and report their findings.

<p>Have you or your peers put a good deal of time and effort into a technical
communication project this year? Has your team created something youre
proud of? Are you working on a project that you think will be a keeper?
Maybe its a work in progress and you want some objective feedback. Then
its time for you or your team to seek recognition for your hard work and
professionalism.

The time is here to start thinking about entering your work or that of
your team in this years STC Lone Star Communitys Competitions. We have

Technical Arteach with many subcategories designed to address the type of
work that you or your team do.

workshop in Atlanta related to the survey's theme.<br>

<font size="4">Region 5 Conference Registration Open!</font></h3>
<p>The Region 5 Conference, sponsored by LSC this year, is coming to Addison
on
November 2 4. In homage to the Lone Star Communitys 50th anniversary,
the
conference theme is the 50 Facets of Technical Communication. Sessions are
organized into four broad tracks: Usable Tools, Standards of Practice,
Global
Perspectives, and Learning and
Leading. With almost 30 sessions, including four half-day workshops on
Saturday
afternoon, you will find multiple sessions to interest you. <br>
<br>
This year's Region 5 conference
has an exciting program, including the keynote speakers. John Pruitt has
agreed
to be the opening keynote speaker and the closing keynote speaker will be
Paula LaRocque.<br>
<br>
One of the half-day workshops, Public Relations: Getting to the Media and
Writing the Release will be given by local Fox news reporter Jeff Crilley
and LSC's
own Elisa Miller. The cost for the half-day workshops is $75, and requires
a
separate registration from the conference.<br>
