Permanent position for a Technical Writer 1 or 2, located in Irvine, CA.
The company is Linksys, a division of Cisco Systems, Inc.

Description: 

The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating in-box and
electronic materials to help typical consumers or small businesses
purchase, install, understand, and successfully use Linksys products. This
position will also be responsible for formatting international documents
in multiple languages. These critical tasks in the product development
process require an individual capable of handling a large volume of
projects on tight deadlines. The Technical Writer will need to have
excellent project management skills to monitor projects from the draft
stage to completion.

Qualifications:

•Demonstrated ability to grasp complex technology concepts and explain
highly technical products to an average consumer or small business
customer.

•Experience writing user guides, datasheets, quick installation guides,
and other technical documentation.

•Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Journalism, or related field.

•A high level of competence in Adobe InDesign and Adobe FrameMaker is
required as well as experience working with Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator and
PhotoShop.  Knowledge of MS Office Suite and Microsoft Outlook is
desirable.  Familiarity using project lifecycle management tools is a
plus.

•Ability to multi-task several projects with several managers at once and
meet tight deadlines.

•Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to work
efficiently as part of a team.

•Thorough grasp of the English language including the fundamentals of
grammar, punctuation, spelling and editing to produce concise and clear
documentation.

•Candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
while interfacing with a wide range of teams and individuals including
product managers, engineers and marketing managers.

•Knowledge of one or more languages in addition to English is a plus.

•Candidate must be based in southern California.  Relocation is not
available for this position.
