Lookin for a contract editor immediately to work with our Consumer group
in Santa Monica (makers of Norton AntiVirus, etc.)
 
Duties:
* Edits content.  
* Builds relationships with content developers and editors within
workgroup.
* Develops and executes editing plan.
* Assists in the creation of project plans.
* Works independently on assigned tasks.  
* Uses topic-based/structured writing and content management principals.
* Applies professional content development standards and follows
established company standards.
* Researches audience needs and uses source materials to gain market and
customer focus.
* Learns one or more product lines or content areas.  
* Understands content development process and information development
tools.
* Documents new designs, layouts, and procedures.
 
**Important qualities: Organized, self-starter, good memory to track
issues across multiple segments of content, quick to learn, can see
details and big picture.**
 
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved with an innovative team,
editing topic-based writing and using cutting-edge tools. We need a
detail-oriented person who's going to jump right in, learn the product,
understand the users, work with the writers to apply standards and content
models appropriately, and drive process improvements.
 
The candidate will be co-located with the writing team in Santa Monica and
report directly to me. Half my editors are in Santa Monica. I'm based in
Durham, NC, but am in Santa Monica myself every other month or so. The
rest of my team members are located across the US and in the UK. We're a
close team and I'm privileged to manage great people.
