Instructional Designer
An established multimedia training company in Ventura County has an
immediate need for an experienced Instructional Designer to develop online
course materials on a contract basis.
The company provides interactive multimedia training programs to a variety
of well-known corporate clients. All training courses are custom-designed
to each clients individual needs.
Most work can be done from a home office, with attendance expected at two
to three in-person meetings per project. Time commitments will vary by
assignment, and typical project durations are three to four months.
Responsibilities
The primary role of this position is to create all curriculum materials
for online courses under the direction of the companys Senior
Instructional Designer. These materials will consist of written course
scripts and related job aids.
Actively participate in the content-gathering, writing, and review
phases of curriculum development.
Interview client Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in order to gather and
finalize course content.
Attend information-gathering, internal team conferences, and client
review meetings either in person (2-3 times) or through teleconferences.
Follow up and evaluate the effectiveness of developed training and
incorporate revisions based on client feedback.
Work closely with internal team members (project manager, graphic
artists and programmers) to ensure that quality assurance standards are
met during the course production process.
Support the companys Senior Instructional Designer to clarify client
design requirements, and to finalize design strategy and learning
objectives as needed.
Qualifications
3-5 years of online instructional design experience with clients in a
variety of industries.
Highly-developed creative writing and oral communication skills.
Superior problem-solving abilities.
Solid understanding of adult learning principles.
Ability to work with little supervision.
Good organizational skills and close attention to detail a must.
Strong academic credentials (An undergraduate or graduate concentration
in Instructional Design, English, Psychology, Organizational Behavior or
Human Factors would be ideal.).
Experience with e-learning preferred.
Must have PC and own software (courses do not run in a Mac environment).
