99¢ Only Stores is seeking two (2) technical writers to create and
maintain documentation related to IT systems and technologies.   One
position requires a writer with an end-user focus and relevant
education/experience; the second position requires a more technical focus
evidenced by technical education and experience.   See technical position
specifics below.

SUMMMARY

· Creates moderately-complex to complex system-related information
products for IT customers, often “from scratch,” such as: policy and
procedure manuals; online help; quick reference cards; workflows; project
materials; training materials.
· Learns applicable computer systems/business processes for each project
via reference materials, SME interviews and/or hands-on experience as
appropriate.
· Designs and writes the information products.
· Ensures the quality and usability of department-produced information
products.
· Responsible for independent management of assigned
projects/workproducts.

OVERALL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

· Writing skills at the highest level
· The ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly
· Ability to multitask among various projects and platforms
· Ability to work either independently or as part of a team with limited
supervision
· Excellent planning skills, both project and product, including
contingency planning
· Ability to interact effectively with all levels of IT and business
management and staff
· An in-depth knowledge of MS Word, including the use of styles and
templates, and Adobe Acrobat

ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Education Required:   A Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such
as Computer Science, Engineering, Graphic/Web Design, or Mathematics.

· 5 - 10 years of experience in a corporate IT environment including a
minimum of 4 years designing and developing systems specifications,
requirements, operational procedures or other technical documentation for
a technical audience.
· Extensive experience creating/maintaining Visio diagrams or process
flows
· Working knowledge of graphics/presentation software such as PhotoShop
· Extensive experience documenting complex technologies/applications
· Web design experience would be a definite plus
