POLICIES & PROCEDURES WRITER – Irwindale, CA

6-month full-time contract (40 hrs/wk), with possibility of future
employment, to write new and/or update existing policies and procedures
manuals for Southern California Edison energy efficiency programs. 
Projects may be solo or with another writer.  Manuals cover program
descriptions, policies, and detailed procedures for processing
applications, data entry in a variety of databases, ordering and reviewing
inspections and verifications, and other miscellaneous tasks.  Some
knowledge of electric utility business and energy efficiency practices can
be helpful but is not required.
  
Responsibilities include:

• Interviewing SMEs (program managers, business analysts, inspectors and
other quality control personnel, and processing clerks)

• Creating or revising outlines / Tables of Contents, using interview
notes, program implementation plans, and other documents

• Drafting and/or updating policies and procedures and quick-reference
documents

• Working with SMEs to facilitate review and revision of drafts, and 

• Preparing completed work for publication.  

Essential to read and master background information and company style
guide quickly and handle several different projects at the same time.

Required:  

Good-to-expert knowledge of Microsoft Word 2002; ability to read and
create flowcharts (preferably, using Visio); excellent English
composition, grammar, and spelling skills.

Preferred:  

Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, SnagIt, and Access or
similar applications; experience writing and updating policies and
procedures in a large bureaucratic setting.
