Instructional Designer – Work from home

REQUIREMENTS
*Training and content design experience a must, including software 
simulation, training outlines, quick reference guides, and workshops
*Prior experience developing self-paced online training programs is 
highly desired
*Experience with multimedia authoring tools required. Image capture, 
file management, and Macromedia Flash, Captivate, and Dreamweaver 
preferred
*Detailed oriented, able to work independently and adhere to Mitchell 
Instructional design development standards, metrics, project plans, and 
complete projects with minimal assistance
*Ability to work in a remote (home) office environment preferred

As a senior technical writer on a highly collaborative team, the person 
in this position will be responsible for all user documentation, which 
will be delivered in PDF and online help formats. He or she will combine 
excellent communication skills with software technical writing expertise

hardware, the deliverables include release notes, user guides, 
installation guides, quick starts, and online help, as well as 
special-feature and special-request documents. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 
*Work closely with Product Marketing, QA, and Engineering managers to 
define and prioritize documentation requirements for each version 
release and to obtain input
*Work closely with Support and Product Marketing to understand customer 
needs, clarify features and concepts, and deliver task-oriented 
documentation
*Routinely test new software builds to confirm, explore, and develop 
software documentation
*Contribute to the review of the software interface
*Release high quality user documentation in a timely manner for website 
posting and online help compiling
*Coordinate documentation, hardware, and gold master CD releases with 
the hardware integration house
*Research, write, and edit books and online help
*Use graphics to clarify and enhance the documentation
*Proactively explore technical issues relevant to the products, and 
provide technical assistance to team members as needed
*Develop efficient processes and task estimates for deliverables to be

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
*BA/BS degree with at least 4 years of technical writing experience, or 
the equivalent combination of work experience and education
*Proven ability in documenting software and showing mastery of spelling, 
grammar, punctuation, syntax and composition rules, and a clear 
technical writing style
*Familiarity with software and network terminology and concepts
*Familiarity with publishing tools and procedures
