FW: [STC-AC] Message from Carol Barnum about Ken Rainey

Colleagues in the Academic Community, 

I am forwarding this message to the Academic Community List.  Ken Rainey
was the founder of the Education and Research SIG, from which the
Academic Community sprung two years ago.  We will be awarding him the
SIG Distinguished Service Award posthumously, the first for the AC, next
year at the 54th STC Conference in Minneapolis.  

At the time of his passing Ken was working on updating the Academic
Programs Database of the STC, a project he had worked on in the  90s,
and which needed updating.  I look forward to continuing his good work.
