My study would not be primarily about the attitudes to research (this would be more by way of an offshoot), but your point is valid. The theory I want to use if Bakhtin's concept of dialogue - as a given, but also as an ideal to be struggled for. The point of the questionnaire would be to investigate what hinders the dialogue between academic standards and professional values. What the questionnaire would aim to do is to elicit students' beliefs about the value of research for their practice (both at an individual level and at a profession level).

I am not sure how much grounding in theory you need for your project, but
at least you could look at beliefs, approaches, or intentions as keywords
for attitudes and your search for instrument. One name that comes to mind
is Russell H. Fazio (I think in Ohio State) who created accessibility
model. His theoretical work was used in development of many instruments.
