Salesforce documentation?

Hi-  
 
I'm doing a little research project on how Salesforce is administrating user
documentation...  What's the architecture, what products run it, how the
team is tiering it, etc.  Can anyone shed some light or point to a research
method that might help me puzzle it together? Right now I am Google-ing
"salesforce documentation"...
