An academic rate is a good idea.
I work for a (huge international) company that is so stingy toward its
employees who are placed as contractors at govt. sites--at least toward my
contract--that I was told we don't have a budget for such things, so I
struggle with the cost as well. But I fully support the idea of an
academic rate. I hope they go forward with that.
