Report on touchpoints to National

Hi guys,
In our leadership meeting of the year, the question 'what are the
touchpoints to national' was raised.
My results are (1) emailing leaders directly works, and (2) there will
be a new Leadership Community Resource, or LCR. Details below.
(1) Seems that if you email the current VP, Paula Berger, then she
responds within 48 hours and Sherry follows soon afterwards.
(OK, this is based on one test, poor QA. But I'm not going to try more
tests to see if the performance metric is consistent.)
Portions of Paula's reply:
...
We are in the midst of developing new ways for members to share their
concerns with board members and also new support mechanisms for
communities and their leaders.
...
You are also welcome to send questions or comments to individual board
members. Those email addresses are on the STC website at
http://www.stc.org/about/board01.asp. You can also address the board as
a
whole at board at stc.org
<http://webmail.registeredsite.com/agent/MobNewMsg?to=board@stc.org> .
You are right that it's not always obvious which
board member to contact about an issue. We will be addressing that next
year and we are hoping it will become clearer as we work though the
changes to the directors' roles. For now, you can continue to
communicate
with Sherry and she'll direct you to someone else if she thinks that's
the
best approach.
Paula copied Sherry on her reply.
Sherry added:
I'd like to echo Paula's comments that you can always contact me.
Additionally, as soon as we know how the elections will fall, we'll be
making lots of changes that make it easier for members to contact us.
Lots
of process and support issues will be handled through the LCR, and that
timing is getting closer every day.
One way that Paula did not mention was the STC Forum, under the
Governance
section. You can always go there and post a question. Not only will I
see
it, but 14 other voting board members will see it, not to mention nearly
500
other folks! You might find that the collective wisdom of that group is
actually handier than just us 14.
It might be well just to send an e-mail to me, or call me on the toll
free
number I have for the next 2006-2007 year. After that, LCR will be in
full
swing, and I'll just be back up for anything they can't handle.
Thanks for your question Tamara.

2) Sherry's email made me wonder 'what is an LCR?' Googling that on
stc.org found the following.
http://www.stc.org/transformation/article16.asp
The article at this link directly addresses our concern:
In the 2007-2008 STC year, the role of Director on the Board of
Directors will change. Directors will no longer be representative
sponsors of communities.
The article goes on to describe the Leadership Community Resource and
its role in filling this gap.
Regards,
Tamara
