OUTREACH
Held April networking lunch on 4/13 @ Madras Pavilion. About 10 people attended. One lady said it was her first STC event ever. Joy Owen was there. I know Joy from Dell a couple of years ago, I'm glad to see her starting to get involved in the chapter again -- she's been out of Austin for a while.

SALARY SURVEY
Survey closed Saturday with 177 responses. That is 9 less than last year
but still a good total. Two people reported not being able to fill out
the survey. We got help from Survey Monkey that one of them needed to
delete her cookies and try again, but she never reported trying this. I
tried to get a response from her twice and no answer, then she wrote
(after closing) that she was sick of trying. I think she probably did
not try deleting her cookies, or maybe she did not know how. The other
person tried to fill it out late Saturday night. I did not notice that
the cutoff time was Pacific Standard Time, so it had already been cut
off.
There was a momentary glitch last week because the survey showed as
open, but in the options I had set a date of closing as 4/7 early in the
project, just guessing when it would be that date, and as that setting
didn't seem to affect anything last year, I forgot to change it.
Apparently the survey still shows as open but it is closed. My mistake.
I corrected it and people reported back that they were able to complete
the survey.

COMPETITIONS
Competitions status:
Pro:
Still have to mail out unclaimed certificates and
judging forms.
Student:
Judging is complete.
Awards to be presented at the meeting next week. I'd
like to do this at 6:45.
Since the program is a panel discussion, I don't think
there will be a lot of media setup - but let's get the
furniture in place by 6:40.
I will need award checks from Andy:
Lynne Kurilovitch - $100
Cristy Grimberg - $100
Raphael Oosterhuis - $100
June Tsou - $50
Jiangnan Yi - $50
Michael Likhinin - $150
I'll hand him a check to cover them.

EDUCATION & PROGRAMS
Hi John & All,
I am meeting with Joy Owen tomorrow before the meeting to brainstorm about
Speakers & Program ideas for next year.
She wants to help & I think she will be willing to be listed as Program
Committee Manager - but will clarify tmo. She's concerned about becoming
overextended b/c she has limited time availability.
Whitney Quesenbery cannot come in September - I am working on March - but
may have to move the meeting up a week to the 3rd Tuesday - waiting to hear
back from Whitney, LSC (DFW) was Ok w/ moving their meeting back a week to
accommodate sharing her expenses.
This means we are no longer tied to a Seminar date & can talk about
preferences for timing.
Next I will send out a reminder email to our Panel Speakers to make sure
they will all still be able to come next week.
Do y'all think someone should call the library & see if we could extend our
meeting 1/2 an hour or so? We never seem to be finished at 6:45.
Thank You,
Marian Blake

EMPLOYMENT
Continuing to wrap job postings archives in template. Have about 5 more
files. Have done a small amount of outreach to get more job
announcements to the job postings page (viewjobs).
The resume that appeared to be an ad is no longer on the resume page,
so that particular issue has taken care of itself. I plan to put in a
blurb about resume postings intended for individuals only.
Are we going to solicit for advertising? If so, I'd like to float an
idea that there be a committee having such expertise be formed and to
forumulate policy and logistics. I have zip experience or inclination
in pursuing the endeavor myself. Last month, I sent out a post to a
400-member listserve requesting info/enlightenment and received zero
responses.
Hospitality--rxed & fwded email from catering coordinator about
reservations & cancellations for MCC.
