In the process of updating the agencies list, I took an approach of my own
perception of the agencies possible usage, from the view of a jobseeker. I
did also injected a certain amount of "bias" if you want to call it. The
list had not been updated in maybe four years. I know of at least two
people who said they attempted to update the Agencies page before me, but
ultimately did not change the page.
For each of the agencies listed before update, I went to links, if listed.
If not listed, or if resultant 404, I googled till I found the company or
its new incarnation, then usually went to Contact info to confirm and
update web info.
One of the criteria I applied was that the agency have a website. I made
one exception--Volt, as I have seen various job notices from them
throughout years, whether through job boards or whatever. I did not contact
any agencies and request updates or ask for addition or dropping. It was a
huge job to do what I had done, and I don't care to revisit the process at
least till next season.
I can only prioritize so much, and most recently has been to polish the job
posting archives and bring up the topic of the salary survey. FWIW, the
Agencies page does say to contact Employment if there are corrections or
additions. Have not heard a peep.
I don't know what the policy is about ad purchase. Seems a few years ago,
we put in an ad for a company in Israel. As treasurer, I took in the money,
but I don't know how the ad was executed.
John, I appreciate your comment about dropping them if they've
subcontracted. How do I/we find out? Also, does anyone have knowledge about
STC Austin ad stuff on the website for policy we can point out to?
