Not only that, but the job bank is a valuable asset. Access to it should 1) require membership in STC 2) be fee-based for non-members ofAustin chapter 3) be a free benefit of STC-A *current* mrmbrship.

I am seeking a LEAD EDITOR who does editing and manages a team of content
publishing editors.
As the lead editor, you will manage a team of content publishing editors
who create and execute plans for providing the best possible assistance and
engaging content to people using Windows. Working with the leadership team,
you will be responsible for maintaining the editorial guidelines, including
style, text, tone, and voice for Windows, Windows Live, and Windows Mobile.
You will be responsible for the quality of content across the spectrum of
Windows surfaces.
You will work with AST partners in engineering (dev, test, PM) to ensure we
meet all necessary engineering best practices; the data analysis team to
ensure we are appropriately and effectively responding to customer
feedback, and with the publishing and production team to coordinate
bi-weekly web publishing as well as on-the-box content, including UI, Help,
videos, and error reports.
You will be coordinating all editorial work for Windows Vista continuous
publishing as well as planning and executing upcoming content. You will
work closely with design and user research to understand the customer and
to provide the text, flows, and presentation in order to deliver the best
possible user experience.
Core responsibilities:
• Establish, maintain, and ensure the application of editorial style
guidelines for Windows consumer content with an eye across the whole body
of content, ensuring consistency of language, tone, depth, and breadth
• Create editorial plans, feature plans, and establish work processes
and schedules for online and offline content
• Ensure the overall quality and accuracy of assistance content,
including Help content, web content, UI text, and any other assistance for
Windows client or Windows online
• Oversee planning, building, and maintaining a table of contents that
supports and represents all of the content for each Windows release
• Manage schedules and deliverables for all of the content we ship
• Triage and approve all content requests, including adding, changing,
and deleting live content
• Oversee the maintenance and sustainability of all editorial tools and
processes
Requirements:
• 5+ years editing and leadership experience in fast-paced software
development environment
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage and grow people
• Excellent language and communication skills
• Excellent organizational and project management skills
• Ability to effectively communicate complex subjects to a mainstream
audience that has potentially little knowledge of those subjects
• Experience creating and executing a content assistance strategy for a
complex product or suite of products
• Demonstrated ability to plan and execute assistance projects based on
customer needs and manage them with realistic and achievable schedules
• High level of proficiency with tools and technology
• Demonstrated passion for technology and understanding of a consumer
technology audience
• Experience with “content programming” in an online environment
• Proven ability to conceive of realistic customer scenarios and
translate those scenarios into feature development, design, and writing
across different product experiences
• Established record of managing and delivering a large content set
that ships on time in various formats
