I have a brother-in-law in the marketing business and he was quite interested in my experience because he sees companies looking for this kind of service. There was a fair amount of mistrust, eye-rolling, and anger about the intrusion into our work lives. I have to admit, I felt quite put-out by it. We're under a tremendous pressure right now but that was not something the designers of this day could take into consideration. In a business with more than 125,000 employees, there will always be a group under tremendous pressure to meet a deadline or fix a problem. The company was not very successful, leading up to the day, in communicating what it was they expected of us. I understand, now, that they planned to use specific techniques and too much preparation would have short-circuited the strategy they had in mind. I wrote in one of my blogs about the experience and my thoughts on the process. I'd be interested in hearing if other companies are having similar kinds of activities (or how they go about wooing employees). The blog is at: http://wetcoastwriter.livejournal.com/.
