From dja1701 at nethere.com Fri Jan 20 10:55:35 2006 From: dja1701 at nethere.com (Daniel J. Alberts) Date: Fri, 20 Jan 2006 12:55:35 -0500 Subject: Recommend a textbook Message-ID: I've been asked to substitute for college professor who is taking medical leave. The course is a graduate-level introduction to Technical Communication. From what I can tell, the students entering this program have never written the types of papers that are required at the graduate level. Can anyone recommend a good textbook that teaches academic rhetoric for graduate students? It is "Rhetorical grammar: Grammatical choices, rhetorical effects," fourth edition, Longman Publishers. Author Martha Kolln. I'd be interested to hear of other suggestions you receive. Or is the course meant to teach students how to write scholarly papers for publication? These are very different aims and therefore very different texts are required. Could you clarify?
