Alternate Career Paths for Technical Writers

I am trying to gather statistics about people who have successfully
transitioned from technical writing to other fields/areas of specialization.


I understand that a technical writer does many tasks as part of his/her job
(needs analysis, usability testing, etc.), but I am specifically looking for
people who spend most of their billable time doing something other than
technical writing.
