I really appreciate the quick responses from Whitney & Caroline, they
really helped me put forward the thoughts and the use of CAPTCHA in our
product; we would be using simpler method instead of CAPTCHA to avoid the
automated computer response for the external use of the registration
process. As mentioned by Caroline we plan to use some words to be
re-entered by users in revers order if this pass the usability testing or
we would switch to CAPTCHA.

Thank you for the inputs Whitney & Caroline

You can learn about how to use CAPTCHA accessibly in the W3C/WAI Web
Content Authoring Guidelines. It's part of Checkpoint 1.1
http://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG20/#text-equiv

The relevant text reads:

1.1.1 Non-text Content: All non-text content that is presented to the
user has a text alternative that serves the equivalent purpose, except
for the situations listed below. (Level A)

* CAPTCHA: If the purpose non-text content is to confirm that content
is being accessed by a person rather than a computer, then text
alternatives that identify and describe the purpose of the non-text
content are provided, and alternative forms of CAPTCHA using output
modes for different types of sensory perception are provided to
accommodate different disabilities.

There are links to further information to help you understand the
reasons for these checkpoints, and different "sufficient techniques"
(that is, acceptable methods) to meet the checkpoint.
